All six States and the ACT were represented at the Championships. Six teams played off in the Blind and low vision and ID divisions, while five teams competed in the Deaf and hard of Hearing division. Ten women took part in the Championships across mixed sides, which is a great reflection of growing inclusion in the disability cricket space.
Another highlight was the return of Blind cricket for Tasmania making up a combined squad with the ACT. Although they did not win a game, they were very competitive. All teams displayed a great show of respect for each other.
Taverners Australia are a major sponsor for this annual event run by Cricket Australia, contributing 25% of the running cost of the tournament. All involved are incredibly grateful for Taverners support and the Sporting Chance Raffle is the major fundraiser for the NCIC.
The Sporting Chance Raffle closes on 28 February, 2023
There is still some time to enter. The major prize is a cricket lover's dream trip for two to see the Ashes at Lord's this July, including airfares, 1 week's accommodation and $1,000 spending money!

Victoria claims the ID and Deaf Championship titles.
Earlier in the day our ID Victorian Vikings went Back-to-Back to remain undefeated for the NCICs. They took on Tasmania and strangled them to be all out for 83. Heroes with the ball were Michael Ford 4/9 and Lachlan Mitchell 3/16 while Mitchell Lawrence took 2/6. The Vikings cruised to victory 2 down with veteran Gavin Hicks making 42.
Our Blind and low vision team played off against QLD for 3rd place but could not chase down their target of 3/227. In reply the Vics reached 7/203 with captain Ned Brewer-Maiga (75) and Trav Zimmer (60) being the main contributors.
NSW and WA played off for Blind Championship honours with the Blues 6/198 defeating WA 8/157.
NCIC Presentation Dinner and Awards
The tournament finished in great style with a Presentation Dinner at the Chermside RSL, with over 300 players, support staff, special guests, Cricket Australia organisers, sponsors including Taverners representatives, all sharing a wonderful atmosphere of celebrations and inclusion.
