The first Taverner's cricket match for the season took place on Sunday October 30 at the picturesque St Bede's College in Mentone, which looks out over Port Phillip Bay. Our opponents in this opening match were the Australian Cricket Society, led by renowned cricket writer, Ken Piesse, who presented a seasoned and motivated side, seeking to kick off their season of cricket on a high note also.
In the end the game ended up being a tie with both sides scoring 195 from their 40 overs.
