With the late Philip Hughes duly recognised with 63 seconds of silence and subsequent applause by all members and guests present, the breakfast then got into full swing as we welcomed back Tim Lane who did a superb job as MC. His interview, or as many said, his translation of his conversation with Greg “Mo” Matthews was enlightening and entertaining to say the least. We also heard from the Australian Southern Stars superstar, Elyse Villani, on her journey and how her more relaxed approach to cricket resulted in higher honours and a reputation as a hard hitting opening batsman in all forms of the game. A major highlight was comedian, Peter Rowsthorn, who is probably still best known as the long-suffering husband and pants-man Brett Craig on “Kath & Kim”. A number of members were spotted laughing so much they could hardly breathe!! Peter was extremely funny, with many in the audience identifying with a large number of the situations he described !! Special thanks go to the organising Committee for another great Boxing Day Test Breakfast and to Scott Bullock, Buildscape Victoria; and Sam Almaliki, Cricket Australia, for their sponsorship and support.
Members were once again treated to a vintage Boxing Day Test Breakfast at the MCG.
