At our recent Legends of Victorian Cricket dinner, held on August 26th, we had the great pleasure of awarding Legend status to 3 influential people in Victorian Cricket and also awarded 3 awards to some of the real up and coming talent within Victorian Cricket ranks.
This years Legend Inductees were:
Matthew Elliott - Former Australian, Victorian and Collingwood left hand opening batsman, one of the Wisden’s cricketers of the years in 1996.
David Hussey - Named Victorian Player of the Year in all three forms of the game in 2007-08, captained his State, Australian representative, with a first class average of 55.27 (as at the end of the 2010/11 season);
Peter Binns - The stalwart of elite Melbourne club cricket administrator, whose knowledge of club cricket and club cricketers is almost peerless.
Warwick Armstrong - an Australian cricketer who played 50 Test matches between 1902 and 1921. An all-rounder, he captained Australia in ten Test matches between 1920 and 1921. A talented Australian rules footballer, Armstrong briefly represented South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League before playing Test cricket.
