On Sunday the 24th of March the Victorian Taverner's took part in the Primary Club of Australia's T20 Cricket Challenge, held at Percy Trevaud oval in Malvern East. The day long competition saw 4 side's compete, with the Primary Club, Hawthorn and South Yarra Cricket Club's and the Young Gentleman's Touring XI competing with the Taverner's for the prize.

The first game saw the Taverner's take on the Young Gentleman's XI, with the YG XI setting a target of 109 for the win. After a bit of a hiccup towards the middle of the innings the Taverner's were able to settle and got home with a couple of overs to spare. A great team effort by all, with some inspired fielding from the outset and wickets shared around by most bowlers. The probable stand out was Matt Clayton who took 4 for 9 in his 4 overs and scored 30 with the bat as well, but great efforts from young Matty, Ferg Dave Massy and Eli.

In the Grand Final, the Taverner's were pitted up against a composite side made up of players from Hawthorn and South Yarra Cricket Clubs. After what looked like a strong top 4 batting line up for the combined side, from no where the Taverner's kicked it up a couple of gears and suddenly had the young combined side all out for 26, much to everyone's amazement. The taverner's then went on to get the runs in about 6 overs with little fuss and so secured the title in short time. Once again bowling honours were shared around between Eli, young Nick, Ferg and Matt Clayton, and we even saw the unique bowling line up of Massey / Ferguson. On top of winning the title Matt Clayton was also nominated for player of the day, with his 2 for 2 in the 2nd match to go with his 4 for 9 and 30 runs in the first.
