Moorabbin CC hosted a wonderful All Abilities Season Launch on Sunday 10 November, with a Division 3 game against Ferntree Gully CC in perfect conditions. Play got under way at 10.30am with a large crowd and Taverners Victoria's Saktti Breen and David Hayden were joined by Channel Nine News, who filmed the event and put together a lovely story for the 6 O'Clock News.

Moorabbin batted first and compiled a score of 121. Ferntree Gully responded making 123 but it seemed that no-one really cared who won. Everyone had a go and was a winner, with plenty of smiles and cheers all round.
This is the beauty of MAACA's All Abilities cricket in Division 3. Rules are modified to accommodate every player's level of ability, to have a positive experience on the field and contribute to their team. Players ages range from mid teens to mid 60s and many strong friendships have been made over the years.
"A lot of these people are just very shy and don't have a lot of confidence," says MAACA President, Steve Lefebvre.
"It's when you give them an opportunity where they can excel in, you get to see all these amazing people and personalities."
Cricket provides these players, who live with a wide range of intellectual disabilities, a chance to develop their skills and excel. It's wonderful to see the love, enjoyment and sportsmanship shown throughout the day.
Over 300 players from all over Victoria take part in the Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association and there's always room for more clubs to get involved.
After the match, players gathered for a wonderful lunch spread in the clubrooms to celebrate the day's play and the new season ahead.
